Armed Robber Targets Shell Petrol Station in Broad Daylight
Police were called at 7.15pm on Tuesday, 12 December after a masked thug threatened staff at the Shell petrol station on High Street. The suspect made off with cash and cigarettes, sparking a manhunt.
Suspect Armed with Gun and Knife Demands Loot
The male suspect, dressed in dark jeans, a light hoodie with the hood up, and a black ski mask, stormed the shop brandishing a handgun. He then pulled out a knife from his waistband. Dropping a large army-style camouflage rucksack on the counter, he ordered a staff member to fill it with cash and cigarettes.
Police Hunt Continues as No Arrests Made
The robber left the store with the stolen goods before officers arrived. Despite a thorough search of the area, police failed to find the suspect. No arrests have been made yet.
Detective Inspector Cat Thompson said: “Detectives investigating this serious offence are exploring any forensic, CCTV and other opportunities that may be available.”
“We understand the nature of this robbery will cause concern to residents. Additional uniform patrols have been put in place in the area and residents are welcome to approach officers to ask questions, share their concerns, or ask for crime safety advice.”
