A27 Shut Both Ways After Serious Smash in Hammerpot
The A27 is completely closed in both directions following a major collision near Hammerpot. Police and emergency crews are at the scene, but there’s no word yet on when the road will reopen.

National Highways confirmed the closure stretches from the A284 at Lyminster to the A280 at Angmering. Drivers are urged to plan for longer journey times and use alternative routes.
Follow These Diversions to Avoid the Snarl-Up
- Westbound: Divert via the A280, then take the A259. Continue along the A259 before joining the A284 northbound. Rejoin the A27 at Lyminster/Crossbush.
- Eastbound: Divert along the A284, then onto the A259. Continue and then take the A280 northbound. Rejoin the A27 at Angmering.
