Major Hastings Sea Search Ends Without Trace
In the early hours today, Hastings Coastguard launched a huge operation after reports of someone possibly entering the waters off Hastings seafront.
Rescue Teams and Helicopter Scramble
The Coastguard Rescue Helicopter from Lydd was scrambled, alongside a lifeboat from Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat and several police units. Backup came from neighbouring stations, including Eastbourne Coastguard, to cover the wide search area.
Extensive Search but No Sign of Anyone in Trouble
Rescue teams, police officers, and even a police drone combed the coastline, all aided by the soaring helicopter overhead. Despite their best efforts, no trace of the individual was found.
All units stood down by 6am after a thorough but fruitless search.
