Firefighters Race to Stop Bonfire Blaze from Wrecking Neighbour’s Home
Quick Action Prevents Major Disaster
Station Manager and Incident Commander Scott Meekings praised his team’s heroic efforts. “Firefighters have worked relentlessly to stop this fire from jumping to and destroying the house next door,” he said.
Bonfire Safety Warning
Meekings issued a stern warning to anyone lighting bonfires. “If you’re going to have a bonfire, make sure it’s well away from sheds, fences, trees, and bushes. The wind can carry embers easily.”
He added: “Never leave bonfires unattended. Always check the embers have fully cooled before walking away.”
