Coastguard chopper launches daring cliff rescue in Dorset at dawn

The Lee on the Solent-based Coastguard rescue helicopter was scrambled in the early hours of Sunday morning for a heart-stopping cliff rescue in Weymouth, Dorset.

Rescue 175 soared into action to support the Wyke Coastguard Search and Rescue team after reports of a casualty stranded 400 metres up a cliff.

Early morning emergency call

The coastguard team received the distress signal just after 1am. The helicopter was scrambled shortly after 4am, rushing to aid the dramatic rescue mission.
