Bomb Scare Hits wittering/">West Wittering Beach!

On 26th May 2024 at 3:26 PM, the Selsey Coastguard Team was scrambled after reports of possible ordnance washed up on West Wittering Beach. The team snapped photos of the suspicious item and quickly sent them to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts for assessment.

Safety Cordon Put in Place

A safety cordon was immediately set up to keep the public well away while the EOD team made their way to the scene. Once on site, the bomb squad carried out a controlled explosion on the beach, safely neutralising the threat without incident.

Stay Alert and Report Suspicious Items

Authorities are urging beachgoers to be vigilant. If you spot any suspicious objects, do not touch them. Instead, call the Coastguard immediately on 999. Your quick action could save lives.
