A family heading to their local swimming baths had a heart-stopping moment this afternoon. A large tree suddenly toppled across Shepherds Lane in Dartford, narrowly missing their car.

The massive tree fell just after 5:20pm near the Somerset Road junction, smashing onto the westbound carriageway. The road was completely blocked, causing chaos for rush hour traffic. Emergency diversions were quickly put in place, disrupting both motorists and bus routes.
