M25 SHUTDOWN: Wrong-way crash sparks chaos in Essex

Serious Crash Closes M25 Between J27 and J26

The M25 is shut anti-clockwise between Junction 27 (M11) and Junction 26 (Waltham Abbey) after a serious smash involving a van and a car. The collision happened at around 4am on Monday. Disturbingly, one vehicle was reported travelling the wrong way before the crash.

Emergency services including Essex Police and National Highways Traffic Officers rushed to the scene. Traffic trapped behind the accident is being released, but the closure remains as investigators and recovery teams clear the wreckage.

Hairy Diversion Route in Place

Drivers face a lengthy detour marked with hollow square signs:

  1. Leave M25 at Junction 27 and join M11 southbound.
  2. Proceed on M11 to Junction 4, then head onto A406 westbound.
  3. Travel around six miles on A406 to the A10 junction.
  4. Take A10 northbound to rejoin M25 at Junction 25.

Motorists are urged to consider alternative routes, leave extra time, or delay travel if possible.

Heavy Delays and Tailbacks Expected

The closure is causing major holdups, with queues likely to stretch for miles while police investigate and clear the scene. National Highways has warned drivers to follow diversion signs carefully and take care when driving near the incident.

Warning After Danger on the Roads

This smash is a stark reminder of the deadly risks of driving against traffic flow. Authorities are urging all drivers to stick to speed limits, follow road rules, and stay alert, especially in poor visibility.

More updates will come as the story develops. Anyone with info on the crash is asked to contact Essex Police immediately.
