Tragedy on Hackney Street as man stabbed to death in late-night attack
Man fatally stabbed on Mare Street
Police were called to a Mare Street home in Hackney at around 11.07pm on Friday, 5 May, after reports of a stabbing. Officers, London Ambulance Service" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">London Ambulance Service paramedics, and the Air Ambulance rushed to the scene.
They found a 27-year-old man suffering from a stab wound. Despite desperate efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Victim named as Sebastian Zon
The victim has been identified as Sebastian Zon, who lived locally in Hackney. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Three arrested – one charged with murder
- Zbigniew Galek, 52, from Mare Street, has been charged with murder and will appear at Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 9 May.
- A 53-year-old woman arrested at the scene has been released on bail until the end of May.
- A 43-year-old man was released with no further action.
Homicide detectives lead investigation
