Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Horror M25 Crash Near Waltham Abbey

A motorcyclist has been seriously hurt after smashing into a car on the M25 this morning (Friday, May 24). The crash happened on the anticlockwise carriageway near Junction 26, close to Waltham Abbey, causing chaos on one of Britain’s busiest motorways.

Lanes Shut, Long Delays on M25

The collision forced the closure of two of the M25’s four lanes, triggering lengthy tailbacks that stretched all the way back to Junction 27. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, and 123 confirmed the rider sustained serious injuries.

A spokesperson for 123 said: “We treated the individual at the scene before transferring for further care. The road was fully reopened by 9:50am, with National Highways managing the ongoing clear-up.”

Bank Holiday Traffic Nightmare Begins

The crash comes as families and holidaymakers hit the roads for the long May bank holiday weekend — expected to be the busiest late May getaway since before the pandemic.

The RAC predicts over 20 million leisure car trips between Friday and Monday, pushing the M25 and other major routes to breaking point with heavy traffic and delays.

Motorists Urged to Plan Ahead

Drivers are warned to check live traffic updates before setting off, especially on the M25, where delays are expected to persist following this morning’s crash.

Tip: Prepare for hold-ups and consider alternative routes to avoid being stuck in the congestion.
