A major motorway meltdown has brought the M5 to a standstill today. A serious crash has forced the closure of both directions between junction 13 and junction 14, sparking chaos for drivers across the region.

M5 Fully Closed Between J13 and J14

The stretch of the M5 from Stroud (J13) to Dursley/Falfield (J14) is completely sealed off. Emergency crews rushed to the scene near Michaelwood Services just before midday. The motorway looks set to stay shut all day, leaving drivers stranded.

Massive Delays and Gridlock

  • Drivers face delays of at least one hour in the area.
  • Congestion is backing up for 10 minutes on the M5 slip road heading to the M6 northbound.
  • The southbound entry slip at J13 won’t clear until 3:45pm at the earliest.

Authorities Urge Drivers to Take Detours

National Highways warned: “Due to an ongoing Gloucestershire Police-led incident, the M5 is closed in both directions between J14 and J13. Traffic Officers are on scene to manage closures. The road is likely to remain closed throughout the day.”

Police confirmed: “We’ve closed both carriageways between junctions 13 for Stroud and 14 for Dursley/Falfield due to a serious collision.”

Commuters are urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes to dodge the bumper-to-bumper chaos on one of Britain’s busiest motorways.
