Tragic Fatal Crash on A31 Claims Life of Young Man

A man in his 20s has died following a serious crash on the A31 in the early hours of Saturday morning. Police are now appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage to piece together what happened.

Early Morning Horror on the A31

Emergency services were called at 3.05am on Saturday, April 19 after a Vauxhall Astra van smashed into the central reservation on the westbound carriageway between Cadnam and Ringwood.

After the initial collision, the van’s driver got out of the vehicle—only to be struck by a passing Range Rover.

Despite desperate efforts from paramedics, the man, who was from Ringwood, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed and is receiving specialist support.

Road Closure and Police Appeal

The A31 westbound was shut for several hours while investigators examined the crash site but has now reopened.

Hampshire Police have launched a formal appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the early hours to come forward.

“We’re appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the A31 in the early hours of this morning to come forward. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw the Vauxhall Astra before the collision or who witnessed the man on foot on the carriageway.”
