The 41-year-old, with no fixed address, was finally jailed after a spree of thefts across town. He copped 26 weeks behind bars at Swindon Magistrates Court on April 17, following multiple theft charges and breaking a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) set earlier this year.
Caught red-handed in Brunel Plaza
On March 30, Youde was nabbed at Brunel Plaza carrying a heap of stolen clothes. Despite being released on bail, he didn’t stop – he was arrested again for fresh offences while awaiting trial, forcing the court to remand him in custody.
Stricter rules and stiff fines
The court slapped on a two-year extension to his CBO, adding a strict ban on entering any Deichman stores. On top of jail time, Youde must cough up £154 to repay shops victimised in his spree, including Primark, Sports Direct, Deichman, and Co-Op.
Sgt Paul Bezzant said: “Youde is a prolific shoplifter who carried on offending despite the Criminal Behaviour Order. I’m pleased he’s now behind bars and that tighter restrictions are in place when he’s released. This should reassure our local retailers, as we keep working with them to crack down on thieves like him.”
