Mother and Son Vanish Without a Trace After Dover to Calais Trip
Cleveland Police are urgently renewing their appeal for information on Sarah Sisson and her son Harvey Belshaw. The pair vanished eight years ago after travelling from Dover to Calais. Neither the 37-year-old mum nor her 12-year-old boy, originally from Whale Hill, Middlesbrough, has contacted family or friends since October 2016.
The Last Known Sighting
On Saturday 8 October 2016, Sarah drove her black Renault Megane onto a ferry leaving Dover for Calais. They were reported missing on 24 October by Sarah’s brother after no word came from them. Since then, police have scoured CCTV footage, interviewed relatives and friends, and worked closely with French authorities in a desperate bid to track them down.
Where Could They Be?
- Detectives say Sarah and Harvey could have links abroad, including Spain, Gibraltar, and Germany.
- Back in 2016, Sarah was described as large-built with long blonde hair.
- Harvey, about five feet tall with fair hair worn long on top, was of slim build.
Detective Inspector Matt Hollingsworth, leading the investigation, said: “Since they were reported missing, we have kept reviewing new leads. Eight years on, their family still don’t know where they are. It’s out of character for them not to get in touch.”
Family Plea and Police Call to Action
DI Hollingsworth added: “If anyone has any information, no matter how small, please come forward. It is never too late. People can remain anonymous by contacting Crimestoppers.”
Sarah’s brother David spoke of the pain caused by their disappearance: “Sarah and Harvey are in our thoughts every day. We’ve missed out on so much, especially seeing Harvey grow up. The worry is immense, but we hold onto hope. Seeing them safe after all this time would be a dream come true.”
Cleveland Police urge anyone with information to call 101 or visit their website. Anonymous tips can also be made via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
