Post Office Break-In Foiled by Sharp Staff in Newcastle
Daring Team Targets Newcastle Post Office
At around 3pm on 21 November, two men stepped out of a silver Ford Mondeo and headed straight into a Post Office on Newcastle Road. Their plan was to distract the staff, but four women waiting in the car had their own scheme.
Failed Break-In Attempt
The women tried sneaking to the back of the building, attempting to pry open a locked entrance. Their efforts failed, and the gang quickly abandoned the job.
They jumped back into their Mondeo, parked just opposite in the Sheet Anchor car park, then sped off turning left onto the A53.
Staff Stay Alert, Police Investigate
Police arrived promptly and spoke with the wary staff. Thankfully, their suspicion kept them at the front of the store, preventing any immediate theft.
PC Joshua Lawley, leading the investigation, urged caution: “Retail workers, stay alert and report anything suspicious right away. If someone seems out of place and you think they’re casing your shop, keep them in view – especially under CCTV.”
