M27 Upgrade Finally Nears Finish Line!

Good news for drivers! National Highways is set to lift the 15-mile roadworks on the M27 between junctions 4 (M3 interchange) and 11 (Fareham) after nearly six years. Since March 2018, motorists have endured cones, barriers, and slow zones — but relief starts tomorrow night.

Traffic Cones and Barriers Coming Down

From tomorrow evening, workers will begin removing temporary traffic management over several nights. The full 4-lane motorway will reopen at 6am on Friday 18th February. Say goodbye to those frustrating queues and tight lanes!

Speed Limits Set to Rise with Smart Tech

Once all works wrap up, the speed limit will initially be upped to 60mph as new safety tech goes through final tests. This includes state-of-the-art stopped vehicle detection systems. When those tests are complete, the motorway speed limit will jump to 70mph, restoring faster journeys on this vital route.

Smart Motorway Controls Keep Drivers Safer

Operators in the control room will be able to adjust speed limits and flash warning messages instantly during traffic incidents. With a full four lanes in action and smart technology in place, the M27 will be safer and smoother than ever before.
