M27 Roadworks Finally Coming to an End!
After nearly six years of upgrades, the 15-mile stretch of the M27 from junction 4 (M3 interchange) to junction 11 (Fareham) is reopening. National Highways is set to remove the temporary traffic cones and barriers starting tomorrow night.
Full Motorway Reopens Friday Morning
The motorway will be fully open from 6am on Friday 18th February. Drivers can finally enjoy four lanes all the way, ending years of delays and reduced lanes.
Speed Limits Set to Rise
- Once barriers are gone, the speed limit will increase to 60mph as new tech is tested.
- Stopped vehicle detection systems are in their final testing stages.
- When testing is complete, expect the speed limit to jump to 70mph.
Smart Motorway Technology to Enhance Safety
Control room operators will monitor the motorway and can adjust speed limits or display warnings during incidents, keeping traffic flowing smoothly and safely.
