Whately Hall Head Chef Sacked After 12 Years Without Redundancy Pay
Head Chef Left Jobless Just Before Christmas
Jordan Blencowe, head chef at Whately Hall Hotel, has been abruptly sacked after dedicating 12 years to the establishment. Having started at the hotel fresh from college, Whatley Hall became his life – where he even met his wife.
Now, just before Christmas, Jordan finds himself unemployed to make room for a new influx of staff brought in by the Home Office contractors.
Broken Promises on Wages and Redundancy
Jordan revealed the shock he and his team faced: “The general manager assured me the day before that no one in my team would be laid off. Yet, after prepping the kitchen for the newcomers, I was told we were all being let go.”
He added, “For four days we were promised full pay for November. Then, last night, I was told I and several colleagues wouldn’t receive any further wages.”
Staff Left Struggling as Hotel Ignores Financial Hardship
“There was no thought or concern for how families would pay mortgages, rents, or buy food,” Jordan said. “We were assured our November wages were secure but were abruptly left high and dry.”
Attempts to get a comment from Whatley Hall have, so far, been unanswered.
