Pre-Dawn Strike: US Special Forces and Puntland Troops Smash ISIS in Somalia
Shock and Awe: Helicopters and Drones Unleash Fury
Before dawn, over 100 US special ops soldiers joined forces with Puntland Counter-Terrorism Forces (PCTF) for a daring assault on ISIS-Somalia’s lairs in Baalade Valley. The mission zeroed in on heavily fortified caves in the rugged Bakuuje and Mareero zones of the Cal Miskaad range, where 10-15 ISIS fighters were holed up.
Elite US troops landed via MH-60 helicopters, backed by MQ-9 Reaper drones patrolling above. After relentless US airstrikes wiped out multiple militants over several days, 200 PCTF soldiers moved in for brutal hand-to-hand combat deep inside the enemy caves. Fierce clashes lasted up to four hours, facing foreign ISIS fighters from Syria, Turkey, and Ethiopia.
Clean Sweep: No US Casualties, Top ISIS Commander Dead
By sunrise, the joint forces withdrew without a single American casualty. Early reports confirm the death of a senior ISIS-Somalia leader and several top aides, along with 5 to 10 militants killed overall. Troops also destroyed vital weapons caches and equipment used for gold mining that funded ISIS operations in the region.
Operation Hilaac Tightens Noose on Terrorists
Puntland officials declared Operation Hilaac now controls almost the entire Cal Miskaad mountain range. Their bold aim: to eradicate ISIS-Somalia by December 2025, cutting off the terror group’s stronghold for good.
