Woman Plunges 40ft from Newquay Cliff – Fighting for Life
A woman is in a critical condition after a terrifying 40ft fall from a cliff at Towan Beach, Newquay.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
Coastguard teams were urgently paged around 7pm on Tuesday, August 1, to help South Western Ambulance Service and Cornwall Air Ambulance.
A Newquay coastguard spokesman said: “Shout 50 team paged at 7pm Tuesday, August 1 to assist South West Ambulance Service and Cornwall Air Ambulance at Towan Beach, Newquay with a casualty who had fallen and suffered serious injuries.”
Rescue Operation in Full Swing
Coastguard members split duties – some aided paramedics while others cleared the beach and set up a helicopter landing zone for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency chopper.
Patient Stabilised and Rushed to Derriford Hospital
The woman was airlifted to Derriford Hospital, where she is now reported to be in a stable condition.
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed: “Police were called at 7.20pm on Tuesday, August 1 following a concern for the welfare of a woman at Towan Beach, Newquay. The Coastguard attended after reports of a woman having fallen 40ft.”
