Paedophile Caught in Online Sting Jailed for 16 Months
A Newport man has been locked up for 16 months and slapped with a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order after trying to meet who he believed was a 12-year-old girl for sex.
Online Sting Snags Predator
Richard Moore, 43, was caught red-handed by an undercover operation run by the watchdog group ‘S.K.I.D Community’. The decoys posing as a 12-year-old girl, named ‘India’, gathered damning evidence of Moore’s sick intentions.
Explicit Messages and Nude Photos Sent
Moore sent explicit messages and naked photos of himself to ‘India’, plotting to visit her auntie’s house in Southampton on January 6. Police arrested him at Portswood Road on the day he planned the rendezvous.
Guilty Plea and Heavy Sentence
At Southampton Crown Court, Moore admitted to attempting sexual communication with a child and trying to meet a child following grooming. He was handed 16 months behind bars, ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life, and hit with a decade-long Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
This case shines a harsh spotlight on online predator crackdowns, showing that paedophiles will face swift justice when caught.
