Probe launched following High Rise Building Fire in Portsmouth

More than 50 firefighters have attended a bin chute fire in a Portsmouth high-rise building in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Crews were called to Handsworth House, Somers Town at 1:44am and the fire was out in under an hour. Firefighters used six sets of breathing apparatus and three jets to tackle the fire which affected the 15th and 16th floors. Two people were taken to hospital with smoke inhalation by South Central Ambulance Service. The stop message was at 4:12am. A joint fire and police investigation has been launched to ascertain the cause.
