Second Arson Attack Rocks Sandown Derelict Care Home

Police and firefighters are hunting an arsonist after a second fiery bid to torch a deserted care home in Sandown today.

Blaze Sparks Midday Chaos

At around 1pm this Sunday, smoke billowed from the derelict Stonehaven care home on Carter Street, near St Johns Road. Fire crews from Ryde, Sandown, and Shanklin raced to the scene with four engines to tackle a blaze sparked in the building’s ground floor stairwell.

Suspected Use of Accelerant

The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service suspects someone deliberately set the fire using an accelerant to fuel the flames. Fortunately, the fire was contained quickly, preventing major damage.

Police Step Up Security

Officers have sealed off the building as part of a fresh arson probe. While local road closures caused by the incident have now been lifted, the investigation is ongoing.

Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward and help catch the culprit behind these reckless fire attacks.
