Life-Saving Defibrillator Installed at WightFibre HQ in Cowes
A brand-new automated external defibrillator (AED) has been fitted at WightFibre’s Communications House in Cowes. Sixteen staff members have already been trained by the Isle of Wight NHS Trust Ambulance Service to use the device, which delivers a powerful electric shock to the heart during cardiac arrest.

Cardiac arrest is the leading cause of sudden death and can happen to anyone, anytime. Using a defibrillator immediately gives victims their best chance of survival.
WightFibre Puts Community First with Lifesaving Gear
Simon Poole, WightFibre’s COO, said: “We are always keen to support our team and the local community. True to our ‘Because we care’ ethos, we’re proud to offer this lifesaving equipment. The defibrillator will be accessible to the community during office hours.”
Louise Walker from the Isle of Wight NHS Trust Ambulance Service stressed the urgency:
“The first three minutes after a cardiac arrest are absolutely critical. An AED combined with quality CPR can boost survival rates up to 70%. That’s why having these devices in local communities is essential.”
She added: “On behalf of the ambulance service, sincere thanks to WightFibre for investing in an AED and making it available to the public.”

- Monday to Friday: 8am – 8pm
- Saturday: 9am – 6pm
- Sunday: 10am – 6pm
With this latest addition, the Isle of Wight now boasts over 430 defibrillators across the island — a vital boost for emergency response and community safety.
