High-Speed Chase Ends in Crash with Lamppost in Streatham
Just after 4:25am on Sunday, March 28, police tried to stop a car near Streatham Common Northside, SW16. The driver refused to stop, sparking a chase.
The pursuit ended moments later when the car smashed into a lamppost on Greyhound Lane, SW16.
Five Taken to Hospital, One in Critical Condition
Emergency crews from London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade rushed to the scene. All five passengers were taken to hospital. Three women remain in hospital, including a 19-year-old in critical condition.
Two Arrested, Investigations Underway
Two other women have been discharged but were arrested alongside two hospitalized women. All four remain in police custody as inquiries continue.
Greyhound Lane remains closed while the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit probes the crash. The Directorate of Professional Standards is involved, and the case has been passed to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
