Man Charged After Armed Robberies Rock Hilsea and Porchester
Police have charged a man following a string of brazen robberies in the Hilsea and Porchester areas.
Masked Mob Strike Two Shops in West Portsmouth
On the night of Tuesday 8 June, two men stormed a BP garage on West Street, Portchester, at around 10.30pm. They threatened staff before fleeing with cash and tobacco.
Less than a week later, at 2.10pm on Monday 14 June, a man targeted the Co-Op on Northern Parade, Hilsea. Staff were threatened again as the culprit stole cash and a till.
Suspect in Custody, Second Man Bailed
Matthew Frederick Hall, 33, from London Road, Hilsea, has been charged with two counts of robbery. He appeared before Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 19 June and was remanded in custody.
Meanwhile, a 41-year-old Portsmouth man was also arrested, suspected of handling stolen goods and shop theft. He has been released on bail until 7 July as investigations continue.
Police remain on the hunt for anyone with info on these violent raids.
