Man Dies at Download Festival During Iron Maiden Set

A man tragically died at this year’s Download Festival in Castle Donington. The incident happened on Saturday, June 11, just as rock legends Iron Maiden took to the stage.

Medical Emergency Amid the Crowd

Emergency crews rushed into the crowd shortly before 9 p.m., following the Deftones’ set. They attended to the man on site before rushing him to Derby Royal Infirmary. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the hospital. His identity has not yet been released.

An eyewitness told LeicestershireLive: “I noticed people shouting just before Iron Maiden came on and then paramedics were going back and forth to help whoever it was. They were taken away during the first song. I don’t believe many people realised what was going on at first.”

Police Investigate Unexplained Death

Leicestershire Police confirmed they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. A spokesperson said:

“We can confirm the death of a man who was a weekend attendee at the Download Festival in Castle Donington. On Saturday evening (11 June), the man became ill at the festival and was taken to Derby Royal Infirmary, where he sadly died. The death is currently being treated as unexplained, and investigations continue.”

Festival-goers and fans alike are left stunned as the investigation unfolds.
