Huge Blaze Tears Through Six Hectares Near M25
Fire Rips Across 20-Hectare Area
A massive fire tore through roughly six hectares of grass and shrubland within a 20-hectare zone. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far.
London Fire Brigade Battles Smoke and Ash
The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers scrambled after receiving over 20 emergency calls about the blaze. A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said the fire sent smoke and ash drifting toward nearby homes and across the M25 between junctions 25 and 26.
“We asked residents to keep windows and doors closed while firefighters tackled the flames,” they said.
Warning to Public: Stay Safe This Summer
The fire service urged everyone to be ultra cautious this summer to prevent more open land fires. They specifically warned:
- Dispose of all rubbish properly, especially glass
- Always snuff out cigarettes fully
- Avoid barbecues in parks and public spaces after prolonged heat spells
Firefighters Rush to Scene — Cause Under Investigation
Called at 3.12pm, firefighters from Holloway, Enfield, Chingford, Stratford, Ilford, and nearby stations had the fire under control by 6.25pm. Authorities are now probing the cause of the blaze.
