The alarm was raised at around 3am, sparking a lightning-fast response from Police Scotland and rescue crews. Authorities have urged locals and travellers to stay clear of the area for their own safety as the multi-agency operation continues.
Police Warn: Floods Pose Deadly Threat
“The red warning is still in effect, and significant flooding issues pose a genuine threat to life,” Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Houston told BBC Radio’s Good Morning Scotland. “I urge everyone to exercise extreme caution and avoid travelling into areas hit by this extreme weather.”
Houston praised those following travel advice and reassured the public that Police Scotland is working closely with partners to tackle the crisis and protect flood-hit communities from further harm.
