Tragic Death of 18-Year-Old Sophie Ford in A21 Crash

Eighteen-year-old Sophie Ford lost her life in a crash on the A21 at Kent Street last Friday night (27 October). She was the only passenger in the vehicle involved.

The driver, a 27-year-old man, was rushed to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He remains under medical care.

Family Pays Heartbreaking Tribute to Sophie

“We are devastated at the loss of Sophie, our beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin, granddaughter, and friend to so many,” the family said.

Sophie had just left Battle Abbey School. She was a keen animal lover and sportswoman who enjoyed singing and listening to music. A volunteer at a local animal sanctuary and stables, Sophie had recently started a Veterinary Physiotherapy degree at Writtle University College in Chelmsford.

She was a proud player for the South Saxons hockey club in Hastings, featuring in the ladies’ first team for five years. “She had such a promising future ahead, and we are heartbroken that her life was cut short so tragically.”

“Sophie touched the hearts of so many both locally and overseas. She will be deeply missed by all of us.”

Crash Details and Police Appeal

The crash involved a single white Seat Leon Cupra leaving the road and smashing into a tree.
