Christmas Tree Stolen from North Walsham Market Square, Later Found Damaged

A Christmas tree that served as the centrepiece in North Walsham’s town square has been discovered “damaged and dumped” nearby after it was reported stolen.

Residents of North Walsham, Norfolk, woke up on Sunday to the surprising news that their community-funded Christmas tree had been removed from its location.

Mayor Bob Wright expressed his shock at the incident, stating that it’s disappointing that not everyone shares the spirit of goodwill during the holiday season. CCTV footage capturing the tree’s removal has been provided to the police to aid in their investigation.

Mr Wright shared, “Last month, the town council provided a Christmas tree under our historic Market Cross. As well as our decorations, a local nursery school’s kids added theirs too. Everyone here was very shocked to find that it was stolen last night.”

The stolen tree was discovered “damaged and dumped nearby” on Sunday afternoon, adding to the community’s disappointment and frustration over the incident.

Norfolk Police has been contacted for comment regarding the ongoing investigation into the theft of the Christmas tree.
