A fire has ravaged one of Copenhagen’s oldest landmarks, the Old Stock Exchange, with emergency crews racing to the scene as thick smoke billowed into the sky.
The blaze consumed the building’s iconic spire, which tragically collapsed into the roof. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries resulting from the incident.
Images circulating on social media captured the solemn sight of artwork being removed from the historic structure, underscoring the urgency of preserving cultural treasures in the face of disaster.

Situated next to the Danish parliament, the Old Stock Exchange is renowned for its distinctive spire-shaped by the intertwined tails of four dragons. Although currently under renovation, the building has historically hosted gala dinners, conferences, and other events, although it is not regularly open to the public.

Denmark’s Minister for Culture, Jakob Engel-Schmidt, expressed his dismay over the devastating fire, lamenting the loss of 400 years of Danish cultural heritage. The incident serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of safeguarding our architectural and artistic legacies for future generations.
