Next to the Danish parliament, the Old Stock Exchange, built in 1625, has long stood as a symbol of national pride and history. Though under renovation and not regularly open to the public, it has hosted gala dinners and major events.

Denmark’s Minister for Culture, Jakob Engel-Schmidt, called the fire a heartbreaking loss of 400 years of heritage. “This tragic event reminds us how vital it is to protect our architectural and artistic legacies for future generations,” he said.
