Repeat Co-Op Thief Nabbed After 14 Shoplifting Spree
Scott Lamond, 33, from Greenstead Road, Colchester, has been caught stealing from Co-Op stores no less than 14 times between 6 and 20 September this year. His crime spree ended after the final heist at the Wimpole Road store on 20 September, where police finally arrested him.
Jail Time Suspended but Big Penalties Hit Lamond
Lamond pleaded guilty to 14 theft charges just three days after his arrest. On Monday 12 October, he was handed a 20-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. That means if he reoffends, straight to jail he goes.
He was also slammed with a £1,500+ compensation bill and slapped with a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).
No Entry to Co-Op Stores Across Colchester
The tough CBO bans Lamond from stepping foot in Co-Op shops on Haven Road, Mersea Road, Wimpole Road, Peartree Road, and Riverside Avenue.
PC Adam Buckingham said: “Scott Lamond has shown little regard for businesses he has stolen from. His actions will have had an impact on them financially. He has been spared time behind bars but knows that if he offends again he could be sent to prison. We will continue to work hard to protect the businesses across Colchester.”
