The much-anticipated UK general election is underway, as polling stations across the country open their doors to voters. With the keys to Number 10 at stake and the nation’s political direction hanging in the balance, the public are heading to their nearest polling stations to cast their ballots.

The Campaign Trail

As you head to your assigned polling station, remember that photographic identification is essential. Here are the acceptable forms of ID:

  1. UK or Northern Ireland Photo card Driving Licence (Full or Provisional)
  2. Driving Licence Issued by an EU Country (Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Isle of Man, or Channel Islands)
  3. UK Passport
  4. Passport Issued by an EU Country, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or a Commonwealth Country
  5. PASS Card (National Proof of Age Standards Scheme)
  6. Blue Badge
  7. Biometric Residence Permit (BRP)
  8. Defence Identity Card (MOD Form 90)
  9. National Identity Card Issued by the EU, Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein
  10. Northern Ireland Electoral Identity Card
  11. Voter Authority Certificate
  12. Anonymous Elector’s Document

Additionally, certain travel passes can serve as photo ID:

  • Older Person’s Bus Pass
  • Disabled Person’s Bus Pass
  • Oyster 60+ Card
  • Freedom Pass
  • Scottish National Entitlement Card (NEC)
  • 60 and Over Welsh Concessionary Travel Card
  • Disabled Person’s Welsh Concessionary Travel Card
  • Northern Ireland Concessionary Travel Pass
