De Luci Fish Roundabout in Erith Damaged in Van Crash: Police Update

 

The iconic De Luci Fish roundabout in uk/where/erith/">Erith suffered significant damage after a van crashed into the structure on Monday, December 2. Images from the scene revealed debris scattered around the base of the statue, with one side broken apart and the front of the van visibly dented.

Police Update

The Metropolitan Police confirmed they were called to the scene but reported no injuries from the incident. Additionally, no arrests were made in connection with the crash.

A spokesperson for the Met said:

“Officers attended the scene of a collision involving a van at the De Luci Fish roundabout. No injuries were reported, and the road was temporarily closed to allow for the vehicle’s removal.”

Assessment of Damage

Technicians and artist Gary Drostle, who created the iconic statue, were called to the site to assess the extent of the damage. The road closure lasted for a short time while the van was cleared.
