Two women, aged 26 and 28, were arrested by Met Flying Squad detectives yesterday afternoon after allegedly attempting to rob a shop in the Church Road area. The arrests come after an ongoing investigation linked to two previous incidents at a shop in Belvedere.
The trio, under surveillance by police, were apprehended as part of a targeted operation following reports of attempted robberies at a local business. Detectives had been monitoring the women’s activities after the previous incidents, which raised suspicions about their involvement in criminal activity.
During the arrest, a firearm was recovered, adding to the seriousness of the charges. The weapon is currently being assessed by forensic experts as part of the ongoing investigation.
The two women, both aged 26 and 28, are being held in custody while further inquiries continue. Police have stated that the investigation remains active, and additional arrests may follow as they piece together the events leading to the attempted robbery.
