Woman Sexually Assaulted in Broad Daylight in Devon Village
Police are hunting witnesses after a serious sexual assault rocked the peaceful Devon village of Uffculme last week. The attack happened in broad daylight at around 3.40pm on Friday, April 18.
Police Seek Two Boys on Bikes
Officers from Exeter CID responded swiftly after the assault was reported. Now, they are calling on the public to help identify two boys seen cycling near the scene. Detectives believe these lads may have witnessed the attack or have vital information.
The pair were spotted riding bikes on a bridge or footpath near Bridge Street between 3.30pm and 3.45pm, right around when the assault took place.

“Detectives from Exeter CID would like to speak to these boys as they may hold vital information to assist with enquiries. They are also keen to hear from any other witnesses who have not yet spoken to police.”

Man Arrested and Released on Bail
An 18-year-old man from Tiverton has been arrested over the incident. He was taken into custody on suspicion of:
- Rape
- Sexual assault on a female
- Malicious communications
The suspect has now been released on bail until July, while the investigation continues. The attack has shocked the quiet village, but police assure locals a thorough probe is underway.
