Major Emergency After Person Spotted in River Near Ilford Footbridge
Emergency teams launched a full-scale response on Monday evening after someone was seen in the water near Roding Lane South in Ilford. The alarm was raised at around 5:15pm, prompting fire crews and rescue services to rush to the scene close to Witney Avenue.
All Hands on Deck
Rescue efforts quickly focused around the Vista Drive footbridge, near the winding River Roding that cuts through the borough. The London Fire Brigade, Metropolitan Police, and London Ambulance Service joined forces in a bid to locate and bring the individual to safety.
So far, no official word has been released about the person’s condition or if they were successfully rescued. Authorities remain tight-lipped as the search continues.

The drama unfolded near the green space along Roding Lane South, where a footpath and bridge cross the river near Vista Drive. This popular walking spot is known for its scenic routes but also patches of poor visibility along the water’s edge.
