Boy, 16, Dies at Barry Island Pleasure Park as Teen Arrested in Ongoing Investigation

 

A 16-year-old boy has tragically died following a reported “medical episode” at Barry Island Pleasure Park, prompting a police investigation and the arrest of a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of assault.

The victim has been named as Taha Soomro, from Grangetown, Cardiff, who was pronounced dead at the scene on Friday evening, despite emergency efforts from paramedics and the deployment of an air ambulance.

A spokesperson for Barry Island Pleasure Park confirmed the tragic event and expressed condolences:

“Very sad news yesterday. All of our team did their best to assist the emergency services. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this very sad time.”

Despite the incident, the park reopened at 11 AM the following morning.
