Two Arrested After Fatal Stabbing of Ayowale Aledejana in New Cross

Police have arrested two people on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of 26-year-old Ayowale Aledejana at a residential address in Monson Road, New Cross.

Emergency services were called to the property at 19:26hrs on Saturday, 2 August, where they found Ayowale suffering from stab wounds. Despite the efforts of officers, London Ambulance Service crews, and medics from London’s Air Ambulance, he sadly died at the scene.

Ayowale, from South Norwood, Croydon, has been formally identified. His family is being supported by specially trained officers.

Two in Custody for Murder

A 23-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder. Both remain in custody as Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command continue their investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card said:

“Our thoughts are with Ayowale’s family and friends at this difficult time.
I understand this incident will be concerning and we are carrying out a fast-paced and thorough investigation to establish the circumstances.
I would encourage anyone who has not yet spoken to us to come forward.”
