Police Appeal for Witnesses After Woman Left Fighting for Life in Lewisham Bus Collision

Overview

Police are urgently appealing for witnesses after a serious collision involving a pedestrian and a bus on Lewisham High Street, SE13, left a woman fighting for her life.

Emergency services were called at approximately 20:30hrs on Sunday, 3 August, following reports of a collision near McDonald’s on Lewisham High Street. Officers attended alongside paramedics from the London Ambulance Service.

A 51-year-old woman was found with critical injuries. She was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital, where her condition has been assessed as life-threatening. Her family has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the bus stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their enquiries. No arrests have been made.

Witnesses Urged to Come Forward

Detective Sergeant Rob Groombridge, from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“This was a serious incident that has left a woman in a life-threatening condition. We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam or mobile phone footage, to please get in touch. Even the smallest piece of information could be vital in helping us establish the full circumstances of what happened.”

Police are particularly keen to hear from any pedestrians, cyclists, or drivers who were in the area between 20:20hrs and 20:40hrs and who may have seen the incident or captured it on CCTV or dashcam.
