Hospital Horror: Patient Attacked, Dies Days Later
Police were called to a hospital in Ealing on September 18 after a patient reportedly attacked another. Andrew Farmer was found with serious injuries and tragically died in hospital on September 25.
Suspect Nabbed and Charged
A 70-year-old man, Anatoliy Podmazko, with no fixed address, was arrested at the scene shortly after the assault. He was charged with grievous bodily harm on September 20 and is set to appear at Isleworth Crown Court on Friday, October 17.
Family in Mourning as Police Press Ahead
Andrew’s family has been informed and is receiving specialist support. Detective Inspector Kirsten Hadleigh, leading the investigation, said:
“Our thoughts remain with Andrew’s family and friends at this undoubtedly difficult time. We remain in close contact with Andrew’s loved ones and are keeping them up to date with the progress of our investigation.”
Andrew’s partner, Paul Wrigley, paid a heartfelt tribute:
“My partner through thick and thin for 60 years. Now sadly missed. An Oxford First – whatever he touched, he touched deeply – opera, Devon topography, the underprivileged. Scholarly but with a wry sense of humour. Rest now, my dear friend.”
