Violent Ex gets 28 Months for Brutal Attacks and Machete Threat
Terry, 26, was slammed with a hefty 28-month sentence at Norwich Crown Court for a string of vicious offences including assault causing actual bodily harm, possession of a blade, and witness intimidation. The ruthless ex also faced penalties for common assault, sharing private photos, and using threatening language. A further charge of perverting the course of justice was left on file. Terry had already pleaded guilty.
Fractured Cheek and Hospital Surgery After Savage Assault
In a chilling attack on 23 February 2020, police were called by the victim’s father after Terry’s girlfriend was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Terry’s assault at their Thetford home left her with a fractured cheek so severe she needed surgery to stop her going blind in one eye. Bruised lips, a black eye, and scratches marked the bruising four-month relationship.
Terry, now held at HMP Bedford, was arrested four days later in Norwich and charged with ABH.
Machete Threat and Facebook Fury
June 2020 saw Terry turn up at the victim’s sister’s house after a spat over Facebook posts. Parked outside at 9pm, he shouted abuse before the terrified victim was spotted crying in his car. She managed to escape inside with her sister just as Terry grabbed a large machete from the backseat and fled when family intervened.
Pattern of Abuse Dates Back to 2019
This wasn’t Terry’s first violent brush. In October 2019, during an eight-month relationship, he strangled another ex so badly she struggled to breathe. The victim managed to escape but Terry continued harassing her days later by shouting verbal abuse and trying to kick in her door. He also shared her private photos on WhatsApp groups over several weeks.
DC Mark Tate said: “The dogged and thorough work carried out by officers has helped to put Terry behind bars for vicious assaults on his former partners. Domestic abuse cases can be very difficult to bring to court. Victims are often vulnerable and fear reprisals, causing them to withdraw statements.”
