Violent raid ends in fatal stabbing
- Ward and Morris arranged to meet Hussain to buy a designer jacket advertised on social media.
- Once inside Hussain’s house, the pair pulled knives and threatened him and his friends.
- Morris was also caught carrying a machete in public.
- The attack escalated after Hussain’s mother came home, with members of the family trying to fend off the intruders.
- During the struggle outside, Hussain was stabbed fatally in the neck.
- His mother and brother were also seriously injured but survived.
Accomplice also sentenced
Anthony Nguyen, 18, was sentenced to 18 months for assisting Morris to evade police. Detectives identified Ward and Morris after analysing CCTV and phone data. Morris was caught in Luton, helped by Nguyen.
Family pays tribute to Hussain’s courage
“We are pleased that the jury has returned guilty verdicts for the cowardly robbers who unlawfully killed our beloved Hussain and wounded his mother and brother during their attempt to rob our family home,” said Hussain’s family.
“Hussain fought back alongside his brothers and friends to protect his mother, home and family. These criminals draw false strength from carrying knives, but real courage shone through that day.”
“Thanks to all the witnesses, the police and CPS for bringing justice. Hussain’s legacy of love, honour and bravery will live on.”
Detective calls stabbing a community tragedy
Detective Chief Inspector Mike Stubbins said: “Hussain’s death shocked the community to its core. Two young men the same age as him caused this tragedy by arming themselves with knives to commit crime.”
“His family carries the pain and scars of the attack but has shown tremendous strength. We thank the family and all witnesses who helped bring Hussain’s killers to justice.”
