Double Drink-Drive Bust in Nottinghamshire
Nottinghamshire police sprang into action after spotting two vans driven by suspected drunk drivers in one night.
Two Men Arrested Within Minutes
At around 10.30pm on Thursday, December 8, officers stopped a van in Southwell Road East, Rainworth. A breath test revealed the driver was over the legal limit. The 38-year-old man was arrested and remains in custody as investigations continue.
Just 15 minutes later, a second man was arrested on 1 Road, Blidworth. The 36-year-old has been charged with driving over the drink-drive limit. He was released on conditional bail and is due to appear at 1 Magistrates’ Court on January 3, 2023.
Crackdown on Drink and Drug Driving
The arrests come amid a nationwide campaign targeting drink and drug drivers. Nottinghamshire Police teams are cracking down hard in an effort to keep roads safe.
Officers will also host roadshow events to educate the public about the real dangers of driving under the influence.
Police Warn: Think Before You Drink and Drive
“Anyone who gets behind the wheel after drinking or taking drugs puts not only themselves but innocent people at risk of devastating consequences,” said Sergeant Jonny Groves.
“If we suspect someone is driving under the influence, we will take action and breathalyse them. Our investigations here are ongoing, but we urge the public to report anyone they believe is driving while impaired.”
