Blaze Breaks Out at Former Nursing Home in Early Hours – Two Men Arrested

A huge fire erupted just after 4.20 a.m. on Sunday at the old Abbeymoor Nursing Home on Sherwood Road, Worksop, sparking a full-scale emergency response.

Massive Firefighting Effort

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service scrambled six fire engines, an aerial ladder platform, and a water bowser to tackle the blaze. Police quickly shut down nearby roads to keep the area safe.

Two Men Detained, One Seriously Injured

Police took two men, aged 27 and 33, to Bassetlaw Hospital after arresting them on suspicion of arson. The younger man suffered potentially life-threatening injuries.

We have arrested two suspects, but inquiries are still at an early stage,” said Detective Inspector Simon Harrison of Nottinghamshire Police. “A full investigation will now begin.”
