Crash Brings Road to a Standstill
- A major collision on Southend Lane caused total closure both ways for nearly two and a half hours today.
- The smash happened around noon on October 8 near Firhill Road, close to Ladbrokes.
- Emergency services rushed in to tackle the scene, with the road remaining blocked until approximately 2:30pm.
- Traffic jams stretched for half a mile each side, leaving drivers stuck in gridlock during the busy midday rush.
Woman Injured and Rushed to Hospital
A female casualty was treated at the scene before being rushed to hospital as an urgent priority.
“We were called at noon to reports of a road traffic collision in Southend Lane, SE6. An ambulance crew treated a patient and took her to hospital urgently,” said a London Ambulance Service spokesperson.
Her current condition is not yet known.
Police and Emergency Crews Clear Crash Site
Metropolitan Police have not released further details on the incident. Emergency teams acted swiftly to clear the wreckage and reopen the road by mid-afternoon, easing the heavy traffic congestion.
