Birmingham Man Jailed for Bomb-Making Video and Weapons Cache
A 20-year-old from Birmingham has been hit with a four-year sentence for possessing a bomb-making video linked to terrorism.
Adam Mahmood’s Dark TikTok Fixation
Adam Mahmood, a TikTok user with over 27,000 followers, was convicted at Birmingham Crown Court of holding a recording “likely to be useful for terrorism” after a September trial.
He had asked another user for a detailed guide on making explosives similar to those used in UK terror attacks, according to prosecutors.
Chilling Bomb Video Found with Arsenal of Weapons
Police seized the bomb-making video in October 2023. It detailed how to build a bomb using a detonator and shrapnel.
Officers also uncovered an alarming cache in Mahmood’s bedroom – swords, knives, an axe, a catapult, and ball bearings. The frightening collection raised serious security concerns.
Judge Sounds Terror Threat Warning
Judge Simon Drew KC said Mahmood had terrorist motivations and posed a “serious risk of further offences.”
“Although there was no evidence of a specific plot, the items found suggest he was considering building an explosive device,” the judge warned.
Mahmood, from Platt Brook Way, Sheldon, Birmingham, faces an extended three-year licence period once his prison time ends, keeping him under close watch.
