Murder Probe Launched After Woman Dies in Southwark, Linked Man Found Dead in EC4
A grim double tragedy has sparked a murder investigation in London. A 27-year-old woman was found dead after a disturbance at a Southwark block of flats, while a 31-year-old man connected to her was later discovered dead in EC4.
Woman Found Fatally Injured in Southwark Flat
Police and the London Ambulance Service were called to Elephant Road, SE17, at 3.56pm on Thursday, 6 April. Officers discovered the young woman with serious injuries. Despite emergency attempts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A crime scene remains secured as next of kin have been informed. A post-mortem examination will be arranged soon.
Superintendent Rachael Walmsley, Met Police Central South Command: “My officers will be patrolling in the area while our Specialist Crime colleagues conduct enquiries. If you have concerns, please speak to them. My thoughts are with all those affected by this tragic incident.”
Man Found Dead After Falling from Height in EC4
Just hours later at 8.43pm, police were alerted to a man who had fallen from height near New Change, EC4. The man, 31, was rushed to the scene by the London Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance, but was pronounced dead there.
Police confirmed the man and woman knew each other. Next of kin have also been notified.
Detective Inspector Mike Nolan, Met Specialist Crime Command: “We understand the shock felt by local people. While we’re in the early stages, we believe no other suspects are outstanding. We urge anyone with information to come forward. Thank you to residents for their patience.”
